These are the type of brakes that uses calipers to squeeze pads against the rotor to create friction which reduces its speed and ultimately slows down or stops the vehicle. When taking these brakes against drum brakes, disc brakes offers better stopping power and reduces the stopping distance. The disc brakes do not come with self-servo effect and the braking force is always in proportion to the pressure placed on the brake pedal. As a result, it gives a better feel to the driver and avoids impending lockups.
